Jo has a passion for dogs, and has a very loving Cocker Spaniel, he is Reiki attuned, and just chills during Reiki sessions with clients.
Dogs are very receptive to Reiki healing energies, so if you have an animal… be it dog, cat, tortoise or even a horse, you will have the most amazing Reiki healing journey with the animal.

What is Reiki? The Ancient Art of Energy Healing
Origins and Philosophy
Reiki is a Japanese healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.
Developed by Dr Mikao Usui in the early 20th century, this gentle practice has been refined and passed down through generations of dedicated practitioners.
The word "Reiki" combines two Japanese words: "Rei," meaning universal or spiritual wisdom, and "Ki," meaning life energy. This universal life energy flows through all living beings and can be channelled for healing purposes.

What Should I Bring To The Course & Logistics?
Simply bring yourself with an open mind and comfortable clothing.
I provide all materials including training manuals, certificates, and herbal teas.
We will have mini tea breaks through out the day, and lunch will be at a vegetarian cafe in Richmond, where you can also bring a packed lunch.
A journal for personal notes is recommended but optional.
The course is 10-6pm.
Please make sure you are available for the whole course in order to receive certificate.
I recommend that after the course you have a relaxing evening at home to integrate the learning, the healing and the attunements.
Also strongly recommended no alcohol, on day of course and night before, as this is a healing experience and your body will be processing the energetic shift.

Hotel accommodation: there are many beautiful hotels in Richmond, suiting all budgets in Richmond. On a budget there is the local TravelLodge on Paradise Road. For a more luxury experience with spa facilities we have the Harbour Hotel on Richmond Hill. Other options include: The Petersham Hotel, Richmond Hill Hotel, Bingham Riverside, The Selwyn Hotel.

Is Prior Experience Necessary?
No prior experience is required for Reiki Level 1.
Each level builds upon the previous, so sequential training is essential for optimal learning.

What Is Reiki?
Reiki is a universal energy that is channeled through the reiki master from divine source.
It is a very pure source of healing and is activated through reiki symbol attunements.

Empowers you with reiki energy, improves your energetic frequency, self-healing and also can be used for healing clients, including distance healing.

I’m Already A Healer/Therapist, Will It Help?
Yes, it is recommended as it is seen as complementary to other healing modalities. Usually the attunements & symbols increase the healing power of the practitioner. The feedback from previous students include, massage therapists who say their clients can feel the difference.

Will I Be Able To Give Reiki Healing Sessions Afterwards To Clients?
Yes, as soon as you have received Reiki 1 you will be able to give healing as a Reiki 1 practitioner.
Usually, I recommend that you gain experience with friends and family so you get use to how reiki energies channel through you.
During the course you will find after the attunment you will notice your hands start to become hot as soon as you place your intention to use Reiki to heal.
However, it is recommended you also learn Reiki 2 as you will then be able to use the reiki healing symbols, and then Reiki Masters as this will give you additional symbols, distant healing abilities, plus you can teach and attune others!
Plus the amount of healing energies that flow through you will be greater.
Are attunements for life, yes, once you have been attuned, you are attuned for life and have the ability to channel reiki energies.

How Soon Can I Start Practising Professionally?
After Level 2 completion, it is recommended you can begin professional practice, however some people start after reiki 1.
I recommend gaining experience with friends and family first, then gradually expanding your client base as confidence grows.

What Are The Reiki Symbols?
The Reiki symbols are put into your energy field on each course, this will create greater access to universal energies for healing and general wellbeing.
Reiki 1 you will receive 3 symbols during the attunement, during reiki 2 you will be given these symbols to use on the day of the training. As with tradition, they are to be shared through the reiki master during attunements.

I Don’t Want To Do Reiki On Clients, Will It Still Be Of Benefit To Me?
Yes, absolutely! Being reiki attuned will help support your energy and it will enable you to give self healings.
Some people like to use reiki on themselves daily after the course, however it is not necessary.
It is recommended after reiki 1 course that you give yourself reiki everyday for 21 days. I find students that do this really benefit.

Can I Be Attuned Online?
I have seen this offered, however, I prefer to attune each person as this transfers the lineage and attending an attunement course is more fun as you learn how to use the reiki healing on each other.
You will receive and give reiki healing during each course as part of the training and its also a wonderful way to learn the method of reiki. Plus I find with students it really does give you the confidence that you can channel the reiki healing as the other reiki students will give you the feedback.
Normally the feedback includes, that hands feel really hot, and they can feel energy moving in their body as the positive reiki energies enter the body.

How Do I Do Reiki Healings?
You will learn on the course how to give a reiki healing to your self (reiki 1) and to others.
On each course we use the healing reiki table so i can show you the process I use with reiki clients and so it is easy for you to replicate.
I have personally been practicing reiki healing with clients for 20 years now and will show you the process i use, including the music I recommend and other healing techniques I incorporate for the best reiki treatment.

Can Animals Be Attuned To Reiki?
Yes, animals are very responsive to reiki and can be attuned. My previous dog Tiffany was reiki 1 attune! If you are interested in me attuning your pet or giving your pet reiki please contact me.
Please note I do have a 3 year old cocker spaniel, called Lucky, who will be in the house during the reiki training course, he is excited when people arrive and then is calm throughout the training, usually snoozing with 1 eye open!
I find all the reiki students love his energy as he is very loving and sweet natured.

Who Is My Trainer?
Reiki Master, Jo Ward will be doing the attunements for you.
I have been attuned to reiki myself since 2002, and giving reiki healing sessions for 20 years.
I use reiki every day and have found it to be a natural healing modality that can easily be incorporated into daily living.

What Support Is Available After Training?
Ongoing support is available, you can message me by text, Whatsapp or email for any questions you have after the course.
I usually find the course is so comprehensive that the graduates have all the knowledge and confidence to be a Reiki healer.
If you are planing on giving Reiki sessions to clients, then it is recommended to have healing insurance. On the course, I will give you the company I use in the UK, however there are many options available, and choose which is most appropriate for you.

What Reiki Lineage Will I Be Receiving?
You receive the Dr Usui lineage. (as shown on this website)
I am also happy to email you the reiki lineage upon request prior to the course, otherwise, you will be given it during the course.

Recommend Minimum 14-28 Days Between Reiki 1 & Reiki 2 Training:
After your Reiki 1 attunement, your energy begins to flow in a new, expanded way. This is a time of deep integration, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, as your vibration adjusts and the Reiki energy aligns with your system.
Traditionally, a period of around 21–28 days is recommended between Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 to allow this natural energetic cleansing to complete. However, every student’s journey is unique.
If you feel balanced, grounded, and intuitively ready to continue sooner, you may progress to Reiki 2 after a minimum of 14 days, or even complete both levels within a Reiki 1 & 2 combined weekend.
Jo will always tune in and guide you personally to ensure the timing feels right for your energy and your path.

Recommend Minimum 3-6 Months Between Reiki 2 & Reiki Masters Training:
Stepping into Reiki Master Level (Reiki 3) is a sacred commitment. It’s not only about learning advanced symbols or new techniques, but about embodying Reiki as a way of life and being ready to hold space for others with deep spiritual presence.
At Jo Ward’s Reiki Master course in London, students are encouraged to take time between Reiki 2 and Reiki 3 to integrate, practise, and prepare for the next level of energy.
  • Deep Integration of Reiki 2:
    After Reiki 2, you’ll have learned sacred symbols and the ability to send Reiki across time and space. This phase helps you fully embody their vibration, gain confidence in professional practice, and strengthen your intuitive connection.
  • Personal Growth & Transformation:
    Many students experience profound energetic and emotional shifts following Reiki 2. Allowing around 3–6 months before starting Reiki Master training gives you time to integrate, stabilise, and deepen your personal growth.
  • Preparing for the Master Attunement:
    The Reiki Master attunement carries a powerful, high-frequency energy. Taking time to ground and refine your vibration ensures you receive it feeling centred, open, and ready.
  • Honouring Tradition, Allowing Flow:
    Traditional Usui Reiki lineages encourage patience between levels, yet Reiki meets each student where they are. Some feel ready sooner; others choose to wait longer. Jo will always tune in personally to ensure the timing aligns with your readiness and spiritual path. This ensures you embody Reiki, rather than just "collecting" levels.
  • Recommended:
    A minimum of 3 months between Reiki 2 and Reiki Master training is suggested, with 6–12 months ideal for full embodiment and preparation for teaching Reiki to others.

Is Reiki An Alternative From Traditional Medical Care?
Reiki is seen as a complementary healing modality, and is not an alternative or replacement to professional medical care.
Yes, I have seen many 121 clients who have come for Reiki, when they couldn't find a solution along the traditional route, and had success with this. However, it is always recommended that conventional care is used in conjunction.
Sometimes, energetic shifts can be subtle, so experiences will vary. There is no guarantee, and I would only every recommend you see clients based on the fact you are open to giving it a go. Having said this I have also witnessed and experienced many miraculous changes with clients, and my own personal experience.

Monthly Online Reiki Community & Seasonal Walks – FAQs
Is attendance mandatory?
No. All gatherings are entirely optional. You’re welcome to attend whenever it feels right for you.
Is there an additional cost?
No. These gatherings are offered as part of ongoing connection for those who have trained with me.
On the seasonal walks, we will end at a cafe for time to relax and enjoy refreshments at your own cost.
Do I need to attend every month?
Not at all. You can join as often or as occasionally as you wish.
Is this a teaching session or refresher course?
No. These are informal Reiki circles for connection, practice, and shared intention, not structured teaching or certification.
Can I ask questions or share experiences?
Yes, there is space for questions and gentle sharing, though everything is always optional.
What if I can’t attend live?
That’s completely fine. There’s no pressure to attend every month.
Will there be a replay if I can’t attend live?
No. These circles are held live only and are not recorded, allowing the space to remain present, contained, and energetically safe.
Is the WhatsApp group a chat group?
No. The WhatsApp space is a quiet broadcast-only channel used for occasional reminders and intentions.
How long will this community run for?
These gatherings are offered as part of ongoing connection for past students and may evolve or conclude naturally over time.

"For several years I have been interested in understanding Energy and energy healing. I was mainly reading about it and having Reiki performed on me. I could certainly see the benefits both emotionally and physically. However, I never felt as I was ready to become Reiki attuned for some reason. This changed over the last few months, having met Jo.
Jo shared with me some of her incredible knowledge of the Universe and energy healing. Jo has a unique and humble way to do this. As I learned and observed, I started to see important changes in myself – emotionally, sensing and feeling energies I had been unaware of before.
3 months ago I felt ready to be Reiki 1 attuned. Jo was the natural Reiki Master I felt confident to have my attunement done with. Thorough the day Jo explained all that would happen and ensured I was comfortable and understanding of the process.
Since being Reiki attuned I have performed it on myself every day and onto loved ones. It has greatly helped me and has brought comfort to those around me. I will pursue this journey, with Jo by my side, to do Reiki 2 and hopefully Master Reiki. The door that Jo has opened into reaching to the Universe and its incredible energy is one I will not close.
Reiki is a wonderful energy medicine and I was proven that again only days ago as I suffered from an important eye problem. When I arrived in A&E and saw the doctor they could not believe I was not in pain. I shared with them that I had been performing reiki on myself and all the pain was gone. Jo saw me the day after and performed Reiki on me. Within 3 hours most of the swelling was gone, and I am now fully recovered. T
